The mother of a girl born with cerebral palsy in Chicago recently reached 9.75 million in settlements in the delivery botched case.

The complaint was filed against the hospital the child was born in and blamed the medical center by the severe brain damage that she is now living with.
Delivery goes wrong

According to court documents, Madeline Maturin, the daughter of Rosa Lopez, was born at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in 1998.

Maturin was born one week after its expiration date and it seems doctors induced labor with a drug known as Pitosin.

However, too much of the drug was administered and Lopez began experiencing strong contractions too close together to put the baby in grave danger.
Doctors do not realize the problems

Maturin claimed doctors for their care was not recognized that her daughter was in danger until it was too late.

As a result, Maturin suffered oxygen deprivation and has damaged the brain tissue that led to its development of cerebral palsy.

“Every day is a challenge because it is very frustrated most of the time,” said Lopez. “She needs a lot of reorientation and reminders.”
Solution compensates the family

Lopez said that the settlement money will be used to obtain Madeline extended therapy and treatment in a continuous fight against oxygen deprivation he suffered injuries.

Madeline is attending special education classes, but has limited speech abilities.
